Anticipation Mounts as Baldur's Gate 3 Director Speaks About Xbox Release Date
- 31 Aug 2023
Anticipation is mounting among gamers as the director of the acclaimed game Baldur's Gate 3 drops hints about its Xbox Series X/S release date. Up until now, it has been quite a guessing game, with the only detail being that it was scheduled for launch on the latest Xbox consoles before year-end. This imminent arrival on Xbox has caused quite a stir, given that the game was initially announced without the popular split-screen co-op feature for Xbox Series S.
However, fans can take a sigh of relief. Larian Studios, the famed developer and publisher of Baldur's Gate 3, have clarified that although the game lacks this feature at launch, they have not ruled out plans to incorporate it in future updates. Despite this minor miss, gamers are eagerly waiting for the official announcement of the Xbox release date.
In his recent interview with IGN, Swen Vincke, the director of Baldur's Gate 3, he mentioned that fans could expect the game to launch on Xbox Series X/S between September and November this year. Interestingly, this release is after the PS5 version, which is slated for release on September 6, 2023. Although Vincke admitted that the team is prioritizing the PS5 version and several PC updates, he assured that the Xbox Series X version looked promising the last time he saw it.
Along with the exciting release schedule, Larian Studios is also working tirelessly on new game patches and discussions about potential downloadable content (DLC). However, for those gamers hoping for an immediate release of additional content – patience is necessary. Larian Studios assures that any DLC will only roll out post-console release once the necessary updates are successfully implemented.
Furthermore, the success of Baldur's Gate 3, even prior to its arrival on home consoles, is indeed noteworthy. Its sound reviews and growing popularity have reportedly led to a boom in PS5 pre-orders, and Xbox fans are similarly hyped to try out this acclaimed role-playing game. Given all the buzz, the news that the game might arrive on Xbox as early as September and the potential for new DLC hints at vibrant times ahead for not just Larian Studios but gaming enthusiasts in general.
